Pre-Raiders Notes

The Raiders could be a tricky team coming into this one. Oakland has a good running game, a good defense, and Lechler punts the crap out of the ball, plus we don’t even really know who we are facing. It could be any of three quarterbacks, including last year’s #1 overall pick, and if Darren McFadden plays, we could see some Wildcat used against us. Hopefully, we play a sound 60 minutes and take care of business. We need this game, or else next week against the Pats becomes a must win.

We need to run the ball and stop the run in this one. Last year was Fargas’ coming out party, but an early lead would be nice because it plays to our strengths and their weaknesses. We shouldn’t throw one ball in the direction of Asomugha all day.

As far as injuries go, McChesney, who was serviceable filling in at left guard last week, is now on IR. Also, keep an eye out for Pennington’s foot; he was placed on the injury report yesterday. For the Raiders, Russell and McFadden will play, but without their center and also Burgess, Oakland still has issues.

Also of note, thanks to last week Ricky’s yards per carry is suddenly above Ronnie’s. Today could be another big day from Joey Porter.
