We all know by now that the Dolphins got themselves into a shootout and the defense couldn't stop the Patriots. What hasn't been talked about is how excellent Chad Pennington was in keeping Miami in the game during the shootout.
Pennington was absolutely terrific. He had a career day and led this Miami team on drive after drive to keep pace with the Patriots. He spread the ball around and did just enough to get the job done time after time.
There are a few standout plays worth mentioning. The deep pass to Ted Ginn to start the second half was right on the money. The rushing touchdown that he had was a great decision and fearless. Still, no play stands out more than the touchdown pass he made to Cramer. Pennington rolled out to his right and there were Patriots everywhere. He bought every millisecond of time that was humanly possible, and though it seemed the Patriots were all over everybody, he managed to find the open player in the back of the end zone for six.
Excellent game for Pennington, and though the result wasn't favorable, it certainly wasn't due to any shortcoming of Chad's.
